Our tour of the Vatican and Sistine Chapel in Rome was made all the more enjoyable because of our guide, Claudia , who made the experience relatable and fun, especially for our 12-year old daughter that loved the scavenger hunt and was engaged all time! He provided historical information and insights in a way she could connect with. And, she even helped us avoid extra long lines- knowing great viewing spots and how to navigate the crowds! Highly recommend.

Tommaso was an excellent guide for our 1 day to tour Rome. His command of the history, socio-cultural context, architectural and art history was not only broad but deep. His delivery of information was so relatable and interesting. He was welcoming, engaging, informed, and kind. If we need another tour on our next trip to Rome (which we probably will) we will request Tommaso. Could not be happier with our experience.

I contacted Private Tours of Rome to see what tours might work for my family group of 8, since we only had two days in Rome. Carmen replied quickly with a personalized response, including suggestions for possible tours and all the information we needed to help us make our choice. We selected two tours: Sights of Rome , and Colosseum with Forum. Both were fantastic. Tommaso was our guide for the Sights of tour. Our family included 3 children, including a 12-year-old and 8-year-old twins, and Tommaso made sure that everyone felt included. He had ways of engaging the kids so that everyone learned a lot and had fun. This tour covers a fair amount of territory, and Tommaso did an excellent job of guiding us around the various spots, so we got a good feeling for many parts of Rome, as well as information about the sites we were visiting. We enjoyed it all from the Spanish Steps to the Piazza Navone and the Trevi Fountain, and all the sights in between. (Even with the crowds at theTrevi Fountain, Tommaso found a way for us to get to the railing for an unobstructed view of the fountain.) Tommaso's knowledge (he is an archaeologist) and enthusiasm made this a great experience. Our second tour included the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. It was wonderful as well. All the tickets had been purchased for us in advance, and we had been told of the need to have passports or picture IDs for admittance, so there were no surprises. Roberta, our guide, was fantastic. She captivated the 8-year-old twin boys (and the rest of us) with her knowledge and her way of drawing everyone into the experience. She really made the Colosseum come alive - not just explaining its history but captivating all of us with her explanations of what went on at the Colosseum. We then went to the Forum, where she showed the kids an ancient game for children that had been built into the some of the steps/seating there. Without her, we never would have noticed the notches in the stone or even suspected that they were related to a children's game. She truly made history come alive for us. Based on our experience with Carmen, our initial contact, and with our two guides - Tommaso and Roberta - I absolutely give Private Tours of Rome 5 stars. I only wish I were allowed to award them more than 5.

We had a private tour of the Vatican by tour guide Tommaso, and I must say it exceeded our expectations. Tommaso was so friendly, knowledgeable, interesting and interested in us also, I could not recommend him more. Any questions we had he would answer and you could tell he was really loving giving the tour, getting excited about certain writings on sculptures and explaining what everything we saw as we went through the Vatican. Even though the basilica was supposed to be closed, we eventually somehow managed to get in and get a great view of the basilica with even a live choir. Overall 10/10 experience, thanks Tommaso!!

We booked two tours with Private Tour of Rome and both were fantastic! The booking process was very easy. Paula was quick to respond to emails, provided information about the best days/times for our tours, and gave step-by-step instructions on buying tickets for our group. Our Vatican tour guide was Vera and our Colosseum tour guide was Irene. Each guide was very knowledgeable and willing to coordinate the tour around our preferences. They were also very personable and easy to communicate with. We will definitely be back to Rome and will book our tours through Private Tour of Rome again!
