We will see the baths. the living quarters, the facilities and all the highlights of this luxurious vast villa where the Emperor retreated away from chaotic Rome. Our lunch will be in the medieval center of Tivoli. The area is well known for the production of excellent olive oil and food here is really good.
In the afternoon we will visit Villa D'Este, the magnificent residence of a Renaissance cardinal featuring beautiful frescoes, spectacular fountains with water games and colorful gardens that are famous in the world as Tivoli gardens. On the way back to Rome we will stop at the quarries on Via Tiburtina where travertine stone is extracted. Are the same quarries used by te Ancient Romans to produce the blocks for the construction of the Colosseum

We spent a week in Rome and some people of our group had already visited the Vatican & the Colosseum. We wanted to see something less touristy but still beautiful and we took the tour in Tivoli. What a great surprise! The gardrens are spectacular and quite refreshing in the summer. Hadrian's Villa ruins are grand and fascinating.
